The Gov't of Canada has opened its on line comment page for changes to Medical Assistance in Dying (Maid).
Go to: [justice.gc.ca] to complete the questionnaire.
Please note that to tell them to remove the "foreseeable death" requirement and to advocate for allowing MAID requests in Powers of Attorney so that one can request MAID before dimentia sets in, one has to add these items in the additional comments section.

My sister-in-law's dad asked and obtained medical assistance in dying about two years ago.
He was in the last stages of a severe degenerative disease, almost completely paralyzed, unable to eat and drink. He also agreed to donate some of his healthy organs for transplant. Of course, on the chosen day for the departure, all his friends and family were pretty emotional. They were all there, waving farewell, watching his stretcher rolling towards the operation room where all the procedures were to take place.
Sure, all of this was a huge decision. But I think if I was in his place, I would have done the same thing. And it's a good thing it's legal here.
