Anyone seen 'Wild WIld Country' on Netflix? It's about how the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh cult created a new town in rural Oregon during the 1980s and how the locals flipped out. I thought it was excellent since it brings up a lot of conflicting ideas and views and doesn't try to make simplistic assumptions about what happened. I've heard some people excoriate it because it doesn't answer all the questions in a tidy bow. Anywho, I highly recommend it because, IMO, it also has much to say about social divisions in the US in 2018.
I loved this documentary. It's a great one for atheists, agnostics and questioning people because it explores the gray area between religion and cult and when greed takes over for authentic belief. It's also a fntastic look at xenophobia and how far two sides can escalate when neither backs down.
I watched it, thought it was really good. The different viewpoints were very well represented, and I thought they chose interesting people to do the interviews with. It certainly has a few things to say about modern America. It’s a 2018 release exclusive to Netflix.
