Is there a specific type of food you just cannot for the life of you seem to cook properly? For me it seems like no matter how many recipes i try, or people teach me, I am doomed to fail at Chinese, Japanese, and Mediterranean cuisine. Italian? I can cook that shit with my eyes closed. American? Forget about it. Hispanic? I know what's up. Boy howdy though I am just defunct when it comes to asian and Mediterranean dishes though
Pastry. End of discussion.
I have been at it for 35 years and I have worked my a-- off trying. I have tried icewater method, vodka method, low protein pastry specific flour methods. I have read who knows how many pastry specific cookbooks and scientific treatises on how-to. And mine never come up to snuff.
So if you can make a nice flaky pastry, I admire you, bless your beautiful soul. (And silently curse your black magic riddled soul from my bottomless well of venomous envy)
No I really can't cook anything much apart from fry water.
