Lord Russell did not allow xian philosophers to define logic and this quotation "we" refers to Atheists not believers who conform to the false definition of Atheism....I am sad to read below those who quibble with Bertram....this quote dates AFTER TOM Eliot pandered to the Church of England and betrayed his Atheist bride Vivian who contributed to WASTELAND

Mark Twain may have toured England when Russell was a wee lad saying: " faith is believing whatcha know AIN'T so "

He does black and white in a gray world

My problem with Russell is that he sees the world in black/white and dualistic terms.

I may be wrong but he seems to ignore flow, in this statement he seems to be making a dichotomy of emotion and evidence which is clearly rhetorical nonsense. They do not exist in the same context.

Maybe I didn't understand the whole thing. I thought he made a clear distinction between emotion and evidence.

@SiouxcitySue Emotion is subjective, evidence is objective. They exist in different worlds.

@Geoffrey51 Yet it is substituted (not by Russell) being it different world .
