i love my dog she comes to me when I'm mad and always calms me down and if I don't pet her when I'm mad she pushes up against my legs and almost pushes me to the ground so I have to pet her and stop what I'm doing if I'm angry which is funny and always makes me laugh.

Good for you! Fostering, be it dogs, cats or even kids is a nice thing to do. Beware, your first foster is often the worst, in terms of letting go when time comes. I have been a member of a rescue (Rat Terriers) for 20 years and have taken a lot of dogs over the years and yes, I failed my first foster test.

I adopted the first one, who came to me with severe mange and so frightened, I had to tie him up just to get a picture of him. He came with the name "Little Guy" but he didn't answer to it. I didn't know what to call him but after a few weeks, he told me his name. I was doing some work in the yard, not really paying attention, then I realized he was following me around the yard, watching me and "talking". I looked at him and thought "OMG! He sounds like Donald Duck!" and in that moment, he became "Ducky".

The good news is, over the 20 years, I only adopted 2 additional dogs, one of which is still with me. I do have a couple of sanctuary dogs, which means they are deemed "unadoptable" due to age or behavior issues. They will stay with me although they are still considered part of the rescue.

I wish the best for you in this endeavor. Rescue has been very rewarding for me, I kind of "fell" into it but I'm glad I did. Not everyone is cut out for fostering, some just can't face letting go but if you can, you will quickly learn that there is always another little lost one who needs you. You're doing a good thing.

That was a good idea. I miss my pets. When the soon-to-be ex showed me the door, she kept them all, since I don't have any place to keep them.

I bet it will be really hard to unfoster him after this close encounter.
