I was taught from a very early age, if you can't identify it, you can't fire a shot. period. The law says the same thing, if you can identify the type of duck flying at you at 30mph and kill the wrong one, you are going to lose the bird, probably your gun, and pay a fine. If you can't tell the difference between snipe and other shorebirds, it could cost you $500 per bird. That's one reason I have very little patience for anyone that can't identify what they are shooting whether in a game or human situation.
