Does anyone know how to break a weight loss stall? Something other than fasting would be great! I'm already under 20 carbs a day so I'm at a loss here... I've lost 25lbs in the last 5 months or so... and I'd like to lose 10 more...I've gained a lot of amazing benefits from going keto so I feel great but the scale is just not moving...any suggestions?

When I have stalled it has usually been due to not eating enough fat. Watch for hidden carbs. Read ingredient labels and avoid eating too many nuts. Another possibility is increased muscle mass. Use a scale that calculates muscle mass like the WeightGurus smart scale or take body measurements. Check out this article to see that it is not all about numbers on the scale: [health.com]

What do you have against fasting? If you are fat adapted, fasting should not be too difficult. Start out skipping one meal, then two, then three and so on. I just finished an 80 hour fast and felt great. However, I worked my way up to it over time. Remember to drink plenty of water and include some salt. I also include coffee and green tea during my fast as well.

All research - which I've read a boatload of - points to breaking from what you're doing and going out and enjoying a 'reasonable' day of things you miss, crave, or otherwise avoid due to the carbs. This is not to say go out and eat and entire pizza and cake, but if you want several slices of pizza (just as an example) and a slice of cake - do it - make the slice a big one, but not ridiculously so. Have the hash browns w/the omelette, enjoy the V-8///not the orange juice. Yes - you will probably go up a couple of pounds overnight, but...when you go back to on your plan - it will re-boot your system. No - do not go chug poison aka 'soda'...but if you really, really want a snickers - have one. All the research I've read has said to have a re-boot day once a week. My body wouldn't go for it because I would need up spending the next three days losing what I had regained, but every two weeks works. I found that when I have a 'treat day' to look forward to - and anticipate what it is I want to have - I don't blow it nearly as much. I choose my battles: If I'm craving a sandwich loaded with everything and grilled - I have it and I have the fries too - but dinner...I'm right back on the program. If I'm missing Brunch - which for me is a luxury I 'deserve' - I act accordingly all week long and then I go enjoy anything I want. My enemy is being totally denied - it makes me want to crave something even more. Lastly: (is your brain full, yet?) do not cut back - you may have gone into the dreaded, "OMG - she's STARVING me...hang - on - to every - single - carb - and - calorie!!!" Check and see how any 'good fats' you're actually doing. I ruined my plan at one time by going overboard no the damned raw almonds! Maybe you're actually eating too much salad or too many vegetables. I suggest you find something you truly love and wish you could have back in your diet - and give yourself permission to have it a couple of times a month - if it's wine, fondue and ripped pieces of extra sourdough, Bon Appetit! Just go back to your Good Life Plan afterwards...not a week later, but the next meal later. Mique

How about trying out a martial art such as karate? Many years later from my very first class, I still practice it, and it consistently does my body good. Hiking is always good too of course, I enjoy hiking in the autumn.

@DesertRecluse Glad I could be of help, and thank you for taking what I suggested into consideration, that's what I'm here for to help out fellow heathens. I wish you luck on your goal.

Although I've not yet tried it, I have heard about eating hamburger with a blob of butter on it. No veg.

Has anyone here done it?

Similar deal as I suggested (see my post), but mine isn't a heart attack in a patty! HAHAHA! Adding fat probably doesn't work if a person is already monitoring their fat intake.

Your metabolism is essentially recalibration itself. Just keep doing what you are doing, it will resume

@DesertRecluse all the time. I had bariatric surgery and the post op diet is very similar to keto, with high protein and medium levels of fat and very low carbs. Stalls occur, make sure you drink enough water because if you do not, the body attempts to prevent itself from wasting away.

@DesertRecluse and be careful of salt intake

I have successfully gone on The Egg Fast for 5 or 7 days. It's not a true fast per se... basically, it's 2 eggs for each of your 3 meals, with 2T of fat, like butter, cream cheese, oil. String cheese snack mid morning and mid afternoon. Many do a BPC when first waking.

I dumped 4.9 pounds the first time I did it. And I followed the one on the website
I Breathe I'm Hungry

Having a tough time doing a copy and paste on my phone, at the moment.. sorry.

Patience. Just don't break your diet. Exercise a bit more if you can and drink lots of water to fill your stomach.
