Here is the official Republican Atheists' published statement regarding the World War I monument in Maryland that Freedom From Religion Foundation and American Humanist Association are trying to have torn down. The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against it, but recently the Supreme Court decided to hear the case, so the future of the monument remains undecided at this point.

I have contacted FFRF, AHA, The American Legion and other involved groups in the case.

This is a giant cross. It's clearly a violation of the separation of church and state.

I resent this as nothing more than an attack on out history, our culture, and our traditions. This WAS a privately funded memorial that was taken over by imminent domain laws. The lawyers and the bozos that filed the suit need to be flogged in my mind. There are FAR more important issues for us to disagree upon.

I don’t have a problem with a memorial to war veterans but have somewhat of a problem with the cross but considering it’s age I have no problem leaving it as is.
