SHOULD WE ALLOW ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TO ENTER AND LIVE IN THE U.S. OR WE SHOULD NOT?
There is a post and comments are raging on whether illegal immigrants should be given asylum here [agnostic.com]
If you got rid of the eleven million illegals in this country our economy would be in deep shit. We need a proper immigration bill. The Senate actually passed an immigration bill when Obama was in office, but Boehner would not bring it to the floor, because he new it wouldn't pass. They need to change that rule and make the House and the Senate vote on anything the other passes. That is their fucking job.
Hell no. We have plenty of people already and don’t need more as that will only contribute to more overpopulation. Only those of higher skill levels and those willing to go through the legal process should be allowed to immigrate.

No...but until we determine whether or not they are here for asylum or other legal reasons, we need to process them humanely and swiftly...our current system, which is a failure of many years of both parties, needs to be overhauled.
While we are at it, we need to re-evaluate our values and assess what we want our country to represent to the world. I want us to be able to offer our country not only to the rich immigrants who bring nothing of value but also to those willing to work hard to contribute to our country, as the many legal immigrants that are here currently have proven over and over.
I believe in safe borders but feel that the scare tactics used to over dramatize the issue has caused this rift among us all...most of my friends are Democrats and we all want safety but not in a way that wastes money and resources. We want legal immigration to be done humanely and with integrity.
We don't disagree with the policies...we disagree with the rhetoric and the methodology. Using hate and fear is not the way to get things done...using race is not the way to get things done...using strong arm tactics is not the way to get things done.
Once we address the immediate crisis, we do need to look at the definition of asylum and see how other countries can help as well...we don't need to be the only country to fix things but we also need to be careful that our policies in other countries don't make things worse so that people feel the need to flee to a better place.
Fair comments to keep the conversation open.
@IamNobody We aren't as far apart as we are led to believe by the media...
@thinktwice That's good to hear !!
@IamNobody I find it odd that the one issue that could actually bring us closer to a compromise is being used to tear us apart...and this is from both parties, which I am disgusted with...I might change my retirement plans and move to Portugal...it is getting ugly and unnecessary...
@thinktwice I understand....this has been happening for too long and sadly most of the discussion now a days is about politics and "resistance", which none of those things help at all. The solution is actually simple, there is a process that must be enforced. Anyhow, Portugal sounds like a great destination. Whatever you do, best of luck. I'll ride the storm until this mess gets fixed or I kick the bucket, whatever happens first. Cheers !!
No, the answer is a sound solid no.
There are plenty of reasons and analogies to explain why.
a. We all lock our house for a reason. Why can't we properly secure the country?
b. Society is based on rule of law. The law in place today provides a procedure for legal immigrants based on merits, as it must be.
c. Immigration law and asylum options have been misused and abused for years.
d. Other countries around the world have tough border rules. Why are we any different?
Of course there is more but I can say this much. This is a serious issue that has been neglected for decades and 45 is the only one that have called it exactly as it is.
