I suppose I should put something down here. I'm the group's founder and have the most unimpressive academic credentials in the history of professional science. I have an AS from a college that was shut down by the US Dept of Education for student financing fraud and claiming accreditation for credentials that they weren't qualified to offer. In other words, my AS is bullshit. I got duped. But the student loan is real. For whatever reason, I don't qualify for the loan forgiveness.

Pathetic as my formal academic education is, my favorite book is Albert's Molecular Biology of the cell. I have the 5th edition and I refer to it often along with various college textbooks of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. I've taken classes in Virology and also in Cryo EM Microscopy.

My current projects are trying to make lawn grass glow in the dark when you touch it by inserting LcfA through LcfD from Dinoflaggelates behind a promoter region of the intercalary meristem in the grass. It probably won't work. But the protocols from this paper are what I'm using to try it.

I'm also playing with renewable fossil fuels. A paper in the UK showed proof of concept for modifying e.coli to produce low yields of propane. So I want to see if I can modify the atmospheric gases like C02, O2, etc, along with varying temperatures to get a higher yield of propane. For this, it's not the protocols that are as problematic as the GC I need access to in order to study the peaks and measure if I'm having any effect.

Thank you for starting this group! I'm delighted to find a place where scientists -- and, I hope, critical thinkers like me -- are gathered.

I'm impressed. If that is what you do for fun in your spare time, many cannot wait to see you get serious in your work.

^ what he said. Who cares what your credentials are, what matters is the research you do.
