Hello all, glad to find some scientists in the community. I am a retired Aerospace Engineering Manager from Lockheed. I hold an Electronics Engineering degree with a focus on Computer Science. I also hold a grad degree in Business Management with a focus on Economics. I've managed mostly Missile, Rotary Wing, and Fixed Wing Programs. The last program I managed is on the F35. I still take consulting jobs that interest me. I also pursue a lifelong interest (and evolving career) in music. I'm so glad to meet you. I'm looking forward to contributing.

I would love your job. I am an electronic engineer then moved into IT. My best job was working in the Engineering department of the BBC.

Thanks for the compliment. That job with the BBC would be really cool. I read your profile. The part about being a naturalist struck a familiar chord(pun intended). One of my more entertaining gigs as a musician has been playing bike week and holiday shows at the largest clothing optional community in Florida. I'm considered a staff member while under contract to play and rules prohibit nudity for staff. BUT I always play with no shirt and no shoes to connect with the crowd. I must say the audience at those shows are some of the nicest, most unpretentious, and generous people I've ever met. Another perk is to see hundreds of naked tanned pretty women straddling motorcycles. That is a visual perfecta everyone should see at least once in their life. These shows are also the ultimate test of ones musical skills because the distraction levels are off the chart! The after parties are great too!

@kensmile4u I belong toa nudist club and we hold music and beer Festivals. Music, beer and lying naked in the sun is my idea of heaven.

@Alynscott That sounds a lot like the audiences at this community I perform for. We do pool deck parties where one or two thousand people put down blankets and chairs on the lawn surrounding the pool. They are also in the pool and on the pool deck. It's like a naked mini wood stock! I've never seen a single conflict at these shows. Everyone is very chill!

And there are people of all ages in our club including children. There are no problems with sexual deviant@kensmile4u

Music is my absolute go to in everything I do. Many people think that scientists don't gravitate towards the arts, but boy, are they wrong!

I'm always glad to meet another music lover. Thanks for the positive thoughts!

Music does wire the brain! Welcome to the group! "Scientists"

Thanks for the welcome! To me music is an artistically designed and expressed system of numbers. It goes all the way back to Pythagorus elucidation on intervals. See the link...

I think many scientists love music. I don't know how many make a career out of it, but the astrophysicist Brian May of Queen comes to mind.

There are a few guys I know at Lockheed who also had careers in music. Here are a few popular guys who have done music and science.

@kensmile4u I forgot Brian Cox was a musician. I didn't know about the others.

@Coffeo Tom Sholz is my favorite guy from the link. He created a very successful music related electronics company called SRD (Sholz Reseach and Development Inc.). I own a few items from his company. They are important tools in my recording studio. He sold that company to Dunlop in 1995. Coupling that with his royalties from the sale of 75 million albums makes me confident he is a very wealthy man.
