I just took in the last show performed by Lenny Bruce before he died, the Live at Berkley performance on YouTube.
A few thoughts....
- Most of his material from that show is still relevant, even today in 2018.
- It seems to me that where Bruce left off, George Carlin picked up. I can see that he was a big influence on him and his career. I'm not entirely sure if this was true for Richard Pryor, but I'm sure he (Lenny Bruce) had some influence.
- Maybe he could be credited as the Father of Shock Comedy?
- Stay away from amphetamines.....
