I don't think there will be an "ah shit" moment on a global scale. That is, I don't think there will be a single instance when everyone concludes: "We're doomed" and there will be an immediate impending catastrophe descending upon everyone.

I do k, however, modern civilization is in the early stages of collapse and associated with the ending will be a major human die off probably leading to human extinction. The timescales are 30-60 years for collapse and 80-150 years for extinction based on historical precedents.

There is precious little that an individual can do to prepare for the run. The best hope of mitigating our predicament is at the community level.

One thing that history repeatedly shows is that everything and everyone eventually comes to an end...

Your right though in that we would need to come together in order for any chance of survival.

But history also shows that it can take some time...

You have obviously thought this through. So have I, same conclusions and time frame.
I created a community in the bush in the 80s, but people are hard to work with.
Since then I have moved to a very small town, but have been working to build it's resilience and self sufficiency.
Not really a selfless act on my part, it builds resources I have access to, and gives people a focus to seek support that is not me. Ie, there is somewhere they can go to get assistance.
