My ex was raised in a commune and we researched communes and commune living extensively. There are many out there (usually with religious affiliation.). It is much harder to make things work with multiple personalities and emotions. A common thread (like religion) helps with group cohesion. When it works, it is lovely. Best of luck with it.
I have already discussed this with a landowner in my area and plans are underway for Snowbirds who travel to warm climates to downsize and still have a come home place in summer. We are also planning a large greenhouse to be self sustainable and all solar powered. I am a retired renovation contractor and a builder, I am also an avid gardener and preservative maker. I'm First Nation and have always lived off the land by hunting and fishing and collecting edibles in the forests and fields. I am trying to gather a group of like minded people where no money changes hands, just everybody helping each other like one big happy tribe. Our landscaping will be fruit trees, currant and gooseberry hedges, fiddleheads as greenery, etc..., Tiny homes, yurts, tree houses, tee pee, log cabin , VW vans, trailers ... This is not far from the Rocky Mountains with plenty of activities in the area for all ages like musical festivals and farmer's markets 90 minutes from 2 major cities. We should get in touch as a group that would like to visit each other or move with each other from season to season.. Your thoughts are welcome. I'm thinking my Log Cabin with the fireplace might just coax me back during the winter for an ice fishing outing and snowshoe hike
