In what ways do people sabotage their own happiness? I know I have to give that little voice in my head less air time. (Is there an airhead joke here... I feel like maybe...) 😉

I have a horrible habbit of working for free, or underpriced, just because I want to be cool, or nice, and it always bites me in the ass

Having a disadvantageous focus. It is difficult to focus on negative and positive things at the same time. And one creates what one focuses upon.

Some or more of us (including me) can be a victim of devaluing our own life and virtue by frequently being discontent over unrealistic expectations; griping about what we don't have and start comparing ourselves with others who do have such (e.g. relationship partner, wealth, talent(s), etc) and feeling extremely sad, miserable and worthless about it-which can lead to a long term state of depression that would include the possibility of suicide or suicidal tendencies.

Glad I got such kinds of thought(s) taken cared of at a young age.

my self-sabotage consists of making myself appear smaller in most aspects of my life - which might even be understandable, considering that i'm 180 cm (5'10.87); nevertheless, it is not helpful for any sort of success.

Impostor syndrome (also known as impostor phenomenon, fraud syndrome or the impostor experience) is a concept describing individuals who are marked by an inability to internalize their accomplishments and a persistent fear of being exposed as a "fraud". And often times will set themselves up for failure. I've often wondered if I am dealing with that at work.

@evestrat Thank you!!

I used to underestimate my abilities. I would say I'm too stupid or too slow to do this or that. It dragged me down.

Many of us are conditioned to feel we don't deserve to be happy.
I put other peoples needs first, I don't mean that in a nice way, it is not necessarily what I want, just my conditioning.

I let my fears take over at times. And the voice in my head? She can be an asshole at times, lol

I know people sabotaging a good relationship just afraid of making it to the top and not being enough eventually. There is something going on in my life that I will reserve for later disclosure. Humans are pretty insecure. Learning to live in chaos, makes happiness less attractive. When I am in Chaos... I go to a mirror and utter the words... "Chaos, here is your Creator". After that I can start working my way out of it. Because happiness is where I want to be. Don't get comfortable on chaos and drama. Solved it and leave it behind.

For me it's self-doubt and over thinking.

is this an oppressed woman thing ???? Being told not to be a slut since you were 3 years old might have something to do with this sabotaging relationships ????? Both men and women are told by exploitative employers and their empire of fascist radio and television THAT WE DO NOT DESERVE LIVING WAGES for any job worth doing..... success ought to be a daily confirmation of jobs well done, meals prepared and no one goes hungry.....as for romance, all that can be consistently negotiated and trial and error ought to lead to success with repetition

I have found myself at times getting in the way of what the universe is offering me, believing I knew better than it what I wanted and needed.

My last relationship ended because of this. It was a great relationship overall. But we each let our fears get the best of us. Each of us projecting the worst case scenario for ourselves and we broke up over it. I've tried to talk to her about it but she just doesn't recognize it. A real shame too. We had a really good thing.
