You may be aware that large bookstores have separate sections these days for 'young adult' readers. It's a newish marketing thing. Now I'm not knocking it outright. In fact I just finished "The Hate You Give' by Angie Thomas, a YA book and very good.

A man came in with his son to the store and asked me what's a good read for a 13 year old boy. Being the subversive that I am I walked him straight over to Ernest Hemingway - not the YA section.
The Dad was thankful and the kid was excited to buy 2 titles 🙂

Here's hoping to a literate future!

...so real to think "outside the box"
how else are we to listen to that small
inner voice. I choose eclectic subjects
from the library the same way;mixing
it up-keeps the speed of my absorption
of the material diverse...
Thanks

There’s so many good YA books and writers who are dedicated to their craft and mission.

They address topics tweens are too shy to talk about.

@AmiSue I definitely agree with that.
But there’s nothing like a book becoming your confidante as it tells a story you can relate to.

@AmiSue ...I had reverse restrictions-
a child needed "special permission"
to check out a book from adult section.
It was rather stiffling.

Posted by ReignmondA highly biased selection.

Posted by ReignmondI read this back in 2018. Absolutely loved it. It is an oddly small sized book, so it is good to travel with. [amazon.com]
