I have had an urge for a while to make a large papier mache tree for my living room, with branches extending out over the sofa, with origami birds and other stuff hanging from the branches. 10 ft tall. A sort of "wild things" type tree. I think I'll get started this winter. Haven't ever done anything quite like that... but that's never stopped me, lol. I've found plenty of resources online for doing papier mache, but just curious if any of you have ever made a large piece like that from papier mache, and if so, any unexpected challenges you solved?

I make mixed media collage and have found Elmer's glue and water as one of the best inexpensive adhesives but also craft glues for heavier pieces. I also like acrylic medium instead of varnish because it has UV protector and there are some great textured products that create cool surfaces for certain effects. Good luck.
