Playing "red light" with your dogs. First you need to train them to stay or sit when they're across a yard. This can save their life. You tie them up tree/fence and give the command "stay", or "sit" keep doing that while backing up until you're a good distance away and keep the training "sit" or "stay" praise a lot. After the dog is pretty reliable tied across the yard make sure you have their attention and say stay or sit and they should be able to do it. Once that's done, and I had 7 shepherds trained, I would go out and say "wanna play red light?" They liked it. So I'd wait till they were scattered around the yard and say Red Light 1, 2, 3.. 'SIT" and boom butts down no matter where. It was fun for all of us. Often I'd get a look like "ya think so??" So I'd leash that dog to the fence and train again,.
In training no matter what command you use only say it ONE TIME and wait. If the dog doesn't comply it needs more training. Never repeat a command, You can say, Charlie, SIT. then wait and praise.
