Hiking during hunting season, what is the best thing to do?
I am heading off to an area I have heard is full of hunters this time of year. I don't own anything too terribly bright in color.
I will hopefully have no issues but I wonder.

I have rounded up cattle during hunting season is dense fog. We could hear the rifle shots and our best hope was they could see well enough to distinguish cattle and horse and riders from pronghorns. We all made it safely through it. We all owe this life a death, forge on and have a great time

Well my friend, how about screaming off the top off your lungs "I am here, don't shoot !!!!!"……..... (You know I can't take anything seriously, do you?). Now being serious, use common sense, have fun and be safe

Here you can buy hi vis vests in the cheap shops, sure you could get one online cheaply enough.

Invest in some orange, small price to pay to avoid being shot!

A whistle. The hunters will hate you though for scaring all the prey away!

Here on Lopez most of the hunting areas are also hiking areas. The BLM leaves tubs of orange vests at each trail head. We also leave leashes for people's dogs (a lot do get used).

Posted by CallMeDaveI've never been a big wildflower person, but this is the season for it here in Appalachia. Other people can identify every variety. I'm not there yet.
