I took my son west 2 years ago and he saw bison for the first time. Jackrabbits also surprised him. I hadn't thought of it, but if you've never seen one, they do look pretty strange.
With the cactus, rocks, and Longhorns it almost looks like Texas!?
well...it was only 52 miles from the TX border....so....
Gorgeous.
@SpikeTalon it's from the top of Mt. Scott looking down onto the town of Medicine Park with Lake Elmer Thomas on the right and Lake Lawtonka on the left. It' a great view
Northern Oklahoma??
SW Oklahoma...north of Wichita Falls, TX
@SkotlandSkye I'll have to check into it. Thanks.
@farmboy2017 It's the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge --- it's near the town of Medicine Park
@SkotlandSkye Boy, am I dumb! I always thought the Wichita Mountains were much further north and east. I really need go get out, more haha.
@farmboy2017 LOL yeah...super close to Wichita Falls, TX. The WMWR is considered some of the best hiking and rock climbing in the Southwest. You really should check it out sometime. The herds of Bison, Elk, and Longhorns are pretty amazing too.
@SkotlandSkye Do they roam free? Or do you have to hike at your own risk?
@farmboy2017 hike at your own risk...and don't be stupid.
@farmboy2017 the rattlesnakes are free range too....
@SkotlandSkye I'm in tune with rattle snakes. I have plenty of them on my own land. I make a lot of noise and whistle while I work and that seems to make them happy!

Posted by CallMeDaveI've never been a big wildflower person, but this is the season for it here in Appalachia. Other people can identify every variety. I'm not there yet.
