Did you come to libertarianism from the left or right?

While I grew up in a staunchly pro Democrat household, I never considered myself leftwing at any point and usually just identified as liberal in the classic sense. The economics of the left, in particular the far-left, are questionable at best and all out distasteful at worst, in my opinion. On the other hand, I equally disdain the reactionary and theocratic tendencies of the right, and consider them to be control freaks just like the progressive left is. Although there certainly are plenty of libertarian types out there who would lean either to the left or right, many more of us don't care to associate with either extreme.-

My Dad was a Republican, by mom was a Democrat. Neither spoke much about politics.

I dislike both major parties for numerous reasons, and my dislike for each is growing each year.

I grew up democrat but turned staunchly republican after Obama. Carter was the only Democrat president I voted for but I remained a registered democrat until nearly 2,000. Like you I don’t like the influence of the religious right on the Republican Party but accept it as a lessor evil to the left.

I'd be more of a mini anarchist. Government taking care of the small stuff, not running our lives. Could say I was a classic liberal, yet these new liberal, feel more anti liberal for most part. Don't fix it, if it is not woke.

Posted by SpikeTalonI kneel before no one. No gods, no masters, no control freaks. Screw the tyrants from both political extremes, and their agendas.

Posted by SpikeTalonNeither one of the extremes, and yet the best of both worlds...

Posted by SpikeTalonSubstitute the word liberals for progressives, and that would describe me as well. As for the conservative part, the socially/theocratic (aka, bible thumpers, mostly) ones in particular.

Posted by SpikeTalonIndividuality is a dirty word to the authoritarians (both left and right) in the world.
