Is there any data on the effect on people who had their money taken from them by the government to fund the income giveaway? How many guns were used?

Very interesting...after reading the actual study and the conclusions, it should be noted that the participants receiving the basic income in the study were already receiving unemployment benefits...that should be a signal that they had already attempted to get jobs and might have been unmarketable or unwilling to work in the first place...the experimental group was already tainted...

The recommendation is to continue the experiment but to expand and increase the subjects to include other groups rather than using those already unemployed...for instance, newly graduated people, low income,mothers returning to the work force, etc.

The positive thing that came from the limited experiment was that participants felt more secure and less likely to participate in negative ways of coping...drugs, crime, etc. The positivity also included more seeking to advance their skills and education since they had a choice not previously available.

I think we need to follow this study as well as some of the others out there before jumping to conclusions...

"Is that it?: Inevitably, the results from Finland raise questions about whether UBI [Universal Basic Income] works. However, it’s worth pointing out that the data only covers 2017, the first year of the trial, and it’s questionable whether focusing solely on people who are unemployed can really qualify as a “universal” basic income. We’ve got extra data to work with, but the debate is far from settled."

Why would you want to work more if you could just sit on your ass and get free money from the government.

Under the old plan, if they worked at all and then stopped working, there would be a delay in benefits starting again. Under the new plan there was no risk of that delay or missed benefit. They also continued getting some or all of the benefit while working for less than a certain amount, so they would have more money if they worked.

Ah, projecting again. That's not how it works. That's not how it works in the US either because the amount isn't enough. Also, people want to work and pursue it or are only temporarily on assistance, but your anecdotal stories don't match that reality. FYI, anecdotal means it's not worth listening to on any account, but you'll still use it because of your diminished capacity to understand basics.

@dokala Why the personal attacks against me instead of sticking to the subject?

@Markss76118
Not you. Trajan has continued to troll and exhibit a spectacular amount of ignorance on just about every topic I have encountered him commenting or posting about.

@dokala Your the one who seems to exhibit a lot of ignorance. Obviously you’ve been brainwashed as you have drank to much of the liberal cool aid.

@Trajan61
Good one. You got me. Yawn.
