I have just received notification that all is not well over in the USA in the governance of the internet.
Ajit Pai continues to thwart attempts to stop the internet being throttled in order to profit big business:
Ajit Pai just gave a huge middle finger to first responders on the front lines trying to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.1
Firefighters who had their Internet connection throttled by Verizon while battling wildfires wanted to submit comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about how the notorious repeal of net neutrality put public safety in danger.
But because emergency workers are completely overwhelmed right now dealing with the Coronavirus, they asked the FCC for more time to submit their comments.
Ajit Pai said no. The FCC just issued an order refusing to extend the deadline, even though the courts agreed the agency had failed to do its job in even considering risks to public safety when they gutted net neutrality. 2
This is sickening. Will you chip in to our campaign to hold Ajit Pai accountable and back up first responders calling for the return of net neutrality?
DONATE
When the FCC killed net neutrality, they didn’t just rip up the basic rules that prevent companies like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T from slowing down websites or censoring content, they completely eviscerated the agency’s ability to provide any meaningful oversight of telecom giants or prevent them from engaging in unreasonable or dangerous practices.
What happened to the firefighters who Ajit Pai just ignored is a perfect example—repealing these protections put people’s lives in danger.
During a public health crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic, and especially with schools and businesses shut down and people staying home, net neutrality and Internet freedom are more important than ever before.
Will you stand with emergency workers and chip in to help restore net neutrality?
I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Sending best wishes in these uniquely stressful times!

Evan at Fight for the Future
