Hey, it's been quiet in here. There's still a lot of bullshit to debunk. Do any of you have an opinion of Vani Hari? If you're not familiar with the name try "Food Babe." She makes a fortune in her crusade against science while selling supplements made from the "toxins" and "chemicals" she rails against.

I listen to the Skeptics Guide and they talk about her a lot. It's really sad when people are so uneducated that they fall for people as ignorant as this person. Can you tell that I'm a science educator? We need more science and critical thinking in our public schools. By the time I get them in college, it seems that it's too late for many.

That's sad. I am not optimistic about our future as a country.

Where do you teach? My SIL is an RIT grad.

Yes. She's that and an opportunist. She made comments about pressurized airliners being bad for passengers because not only do they pressurize the cabin artificially, but the atmosphere is less than 50% oxygen. Yeah, you could say she is a warmonger.

@JimG Remember that fatal fire in an Apollo US capsule? I think it was around 1967. It was because the atmosphere was pure oxygen at very low pressure. After that it was never more that one third oxygen, still at reduced pressure. It was still dangerous but far less so.

@Petter that's a great point. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in a pure oxygen environment especially on an aircraft.
