Avoid that word. Better to say: "Question everything and everyone. Demand supportable evidence, cited sources, and corroborating experimental results from third parties if available and/or applicable."

@CrazyQuilter The levels of evidence pyramid helps, but the statement doesn't. "Outrageous" is an emotional, subjective judgment.
@CrazyQuilter Pity no-one told priests that.
I personally subscribe to the concept that the more outrageous the claim, the more likely people are to believe it.
It is a ploy that has been used by dictators from time immemorial.
