Nina Allender was a cartoonist for the suffragettes in the same way of Thomas Nast's cartoons. Yesterday Bob and I had an excellent adventure at the Stahls Museum. The museum is famous for their incredible collection of cars and mechanical music machines. The cars range from the 1890s to the late 1950s with two examples from the 1960s. These two come from Blake Edwards brilliant film, "The Great Race." If you're not hip it's a story about two dare devils in a race from New York to Paris. Our hero is Tony Curtis (The Great Leslie) and Jack Lemon who has a field day as (Professor Fate) and a suffragette Natalie Wood who is a reporter covering the race. Women's emancipation is a main theme of the story, along with brilliant comedy. Set in 1908 with an all star cast including Peter Falk Professor Fates assistant, Keenan Wynn as Leslies assistant, Ross Martin, Dorthy Provine, Vivian Vance and Larry Storch to name a few of the stars. Just as important were the two other cast members we saw at the museum. The (Hannibal 8) Fate's car and the Leslie Special. What a bizarre find when running suffragettes cartoons! And yes I watched the movie when I got home
