Opinions... I knew I'd pushed it with the very small fan base I have, but one typically supportive reader just wrote me to say my advertisement image sickened him. Same guy wrote me two days ago to tell me jow excited he was when he saw the first ad.
Am I committing career suicide? I thought it was art. And I kinda love it.
Not sure if I'm shifting audience or just losing one.
He was all happy about the purple one. I wouldn'tcare, but no one is responding at all now.

Dude, that is the nature of art. A painting/an image/a performance/whatever will appeal to some people and repel others.
Most importantly, you got a response there - agreed, not a positive one. But you weren't met with disinterest. You elicited a response.
In my book, that is one of the purposes of art. Rock on.
