His world is so small. You might be his only stimulation. Conversation might be the only thing he has left. This summer, for whatever reason I'm finding myself isolated from my friends. Yesterday I went out for the first time in a long time and I was louder, more animated and less polite than I usually am. I was excited to be talking. Maybe consider how limited his opportunities are and how important you could be in his life.

I was so happy when my son at age 4 cursed god for allowing his foot to get infected. His view of god at the time was similar to that of the Easter Bunny and Santa. But he figured out that god was a dick, which led to the next logical step that he didn't exist.

Thinking a lot too. I really like people, and enjoy their company. More often though, the thought of staying in, where there is certainty, is better than the thought of heading out. I have fantasies of making new friends, or of wowing people with my wit and charm. Pretty much always a night out ends with some stress, anxiety and sadness. Is that being an introvert? Knowing and being happy that staying alone is the best choice? But maybe wanting something else?

Not more puritanical, more confident. In my day people felt isolated and were afraid to speak out. There was so much stuff I hated when I was a teen. But there I was, in my room, all alone with no one to rant or bond with. Now, if I hate Billy Joel, or Budweiser Clydesdale commercials, or sexist assholes, I can find people similar. And through discussion, discover that I'm a sexist asshole, or a racist. It's all good.

Faith doesn't have a monopoly on forgiveness. I think forgiveness isn't something you grant, or bestow, as though granting forgiveness gives you a new power over someone. I don't know your marriage, but I would hope that in a similar situation, when I'm with someone I truly love, I would be able to find it on my heart to forgive.
