On the concept of "mindfulness." A quick Google search shows recent thought places the origin of this concept as stemming from Eastern, or Buddhist beliefs. And yet, would not the origin of this concept derive from ancient Stoic maxims on "self awareness?"
Stoicism only goes back to the early 3rd century BC.
The first humanoid who looked in a body of water and realised the reflection was not another primate but was in fact an image of itself discovered "mindfulness" becoming fully aware of its place reality and its potential to impact upon it.
