Years ago i read The Gravedigger's Daughter a book that narrates the story of the Schwarts, an immigrant family desperate to escape Nazi Germany that settles in a small town in New York in times of World War II

Very strong story for those who like long books and strong emotions, the first chapter is a bit slow but after you get into the story you cannot wait to know the end.

A plus is that the book is inspired on the life of Oates's grandmother, whose father, a gravedigger settled in rural America.
