A lot of mixed signals out there:
Heinz ketchup takes a hit
If you're looking for made-in-Canada products at the supermarket, French's is stealing the spotlight. Meanwhile, Heinz is on a PR campaign to highlight its Canadian connections its U.S.-made ketchup imports were hit with a per cent tariff. The company is trying to reach out to consumers boycotting U.S.-made products, saying it still produces items like cheese and peanut butter in Canada and employs more than 2,000 workers here. French's ketchup won't be hit with tariffs because it's made in Canada.
I'm a little late on this topic hienz was on my table for years when they left ontario's tomato capital after a century why should we support their product, thats why i have frenches now an its better.
Quick question as a former Leamington resident (during the Heinz bail out). Who makes PC ketchup? Do they have their own production facilities or do they buy from another company?
good question. It's a co-packer which means it could be a big guy or a widely unknown manufacturer. If I would bet on a company, I would guess it's French's
I wouldn't doubt if trump uses Primo or PC ketchup on his well done steaks. lol I buy Heinz, or Our Family, but I live in the US. PS I'm not one of the 30% of Americans that still support him.
I think I will stick with French's, I find it tastes the same as Heinz. I remember as a kid being on a family trip to Leamington, Ontario and seeing the flat bed trailers piled high with rotten tomatoes at the Heinz plant, I still eat ketchup.
Those tomatoes weren't rotting. They get to the factory the same day they are picked ( as soon as the truck is full) and processed as soon as they can get to the conveyor belt.
@RonWilliam53 This was back in the 70's and the tomatoes were definitely rotting, the smell was really ripe and you could see the juices that had pooled around the truck. Was this a rejected load, tomatoes that were being taken away because they were sub standard? I don't know but I do know exactly what I saw. Thanks for your input, even though you weren't there that day in Leamington in the early 70's.
