An American sneered at me the other day 'You Canadians think you're better than Americans'
I just smiled back and told him 'I don't think that' which produced a smug smile from the bully, before finishing my sentence with 'I know that'.
The subtle art of passive aggressive debating is lost on some Americans; a Canadian would have seen that coming a kilometer away.
I love it. I'm not Canadian and I know it too. I don't understand the whole concept of "America is the best". Some of the rankings say otherwise. One would think that we might want to address these issues, but, oh right, America is perfect. Yeah, right. Your post made laugh so hard. It was great.
I remember being at a bar in Bermuda and a local guy with a chip on his shoulder kept telling one of my carpenters that he was too passive aggressive because all Canadians are just passive aggressive. I stepped in and diffused the situation because if a foreign worker gets into a fight with a local then he gets deported and it cost me a lot of money in fees and permits to get this carpenter to Bermuda to work for me.
I guess the local guy didn't take a hint because they found him behind the bar later that night, bleeding pretty badly, my carpenter used to box when he was younger. He had enough sense to make sure there were no witnesses and he wore his work gloves so no skinned knuckles. Cops were called but since the local guy was pretty out of it and pretty drunk, they let it go with a warning.
First we're passive but people should never forget the aggressive part that comes after.
@Surfpirate I can understand that. Don't push so much that you get shoved back. Most people forget about the aggressive side of it.
@Captain747ex At least it was a Canadian so nobody got shot, just a bloody nose and a few bruises, plus a kick in the nuts, I don't think the guy knew what hit him. JR said he let the guy throw the first punch just to be sporting and that was the only punch he got in. The local made himself scarce around that bar for a long time after that incident.
@Surfpirate Yes, very true about the gun. He got what was coming to him.
