I understand your point but why should refugees (I would say immigrants) be destined to low end jobs? Many are university graduates and practicing doctors in their country of origin or engineers, architects, mechanics, welder, masons, etc. Why create Canadian elitism that generate ghettos and second class citizenry?

@Lukian They shouldn't be but most of these well educated people do not meet the Canadian professional standard and it takes time to achieve these mostly due to relearning the profession in English or French. Mean while they need to find work, most choose to work within their field of expertise at a lower position. I know and have met a lot of people Philippines, North Africa and Central America that are doing exactly this. Sure at some point they will advance them selves but, in the mean time they are doing jobs spoiled Canadian don't want.
As Canadians we win as much by this as we will when they move back into their chosen profession.

@HeathenFarmer I still don't agree fully. We should actually accelerate the introduction of skilled immigrant workers via mentoring or professional apprenticeships. They will fill higher paying jobs quicker and hence pay higher taxes. The uneducated, unqualified, lazy Canadians or immigrants should get the low paying jobs.

@Lukian There still would remain the professional associations that regulate testing for qualification. We need RN's now but the level of qualification in many nations is over ten years behind what it his here in Alberta, even without consideration of the competency in English. Having them working as HCA's allows them to make a living while upgrading.

I agree what the FP is. We have laws against hate speech in Canada as well as news reporting guidelines. This type of news opinion is a slippery slope.
