I really think it's time we changed the portraits on our folding money. Outside of the Queen, we have three racists who were probably anti-semitic, and one anti-semitic who was probably racist. I like the ten with Viola Desmond on it (black lady who was arrested for sitting in the "whites only" section of a movie theatre in Nova Scotia). Formatting her portrait so it is upright when the bill is held in "portrait" format was a good touch.
Come to think of it, why politicians on money? The Queen should go too, for other reasons.

A plum position, costs us millions and is referred to as "The Queens representative in Canada". This is ludicrous. The British Consul/Ambassador should be doing this job, at no cost to Canadians.

There is an advantage to having a separate executive - on that looks after our justice system (police, courts, etc.) because it de-politicizes them to some extent. We could have a Governor General that heads up that executive part. How we select the person is a bit of a quandry. Elected=politics, appointed ? BTW we would have to get rid of Lt. Governors too since they report to HRM as well. They could be GG lites. That also raised the issue of the co-sovereignty of provinces the reason we can't amend our constitution.
Politicians on the paper money makes sense to me, since paper currencies are created out of debt and thin air they are the worst form of institutionalized theft, so why not have the portraits of master thieves on the currency?

When they picked the portrait for the 10$, they picked the wrong one in my opinion. Therein lies the problem; we cannot please everybody. Get rid of all the people pictures. Do like we do on the coinage: beavers, elk, loons, bears. We are not lacking for beautiful and distinctive animal life in this country.

The problem with the folks on the bills is that they were leaders of the time and caused the problems we are now trying to solve. Incidentally, the BNA Act of 1967 was a flawed document from the get-go with no amending formula and the creation of co-sovereign provinces which means that the amending formula in the revised version won't work.
