Having "yo-yo'd" most of my adult life, I realize that losing weight is the relatively easy part , maintenance is the hard bit. I think I've nailed this now and I'm hovering about 160lbs, from over 260 years ago.
Portion control is the key for me, the easiest way, I find, is to make a job lot of, say, soup or lentils. Divide it and freeze it, and use one at a time - and that's it , no more.
A few other tips:-
Dieting starts at the Store, if buy it you'll eat it.
Watch fruit intake - I was eating upward of 10 pieces a day, king this was "healthy" - stick to 5 a day max.
No refined carbs/sugar or alcohol.
Have sugar free sweets to suck, helps suppress ap and you won't eat whilst your sucking them!

That's amazing progress! Congratulations! I'm approaching my goal of losing 90#, so I'll be shifting to maintenance in a few months. All those are good techniques, but my main one will likely be the same as with the weight loss... never eating crap-food again in my life. Period. To me, that means no more mammal fats (which means no meats and only fat-free dairy) and very little processed food. the most important part of your post is that "Dieting starts at the store"! Please keep us updated regularly.

Some excellent ideas. Thank you. I agree, maintenance is the hard bit. Apart from the smaller portions, I have found that using a smaller plate helps, too.It sounds silly, but it helps.

Great job of loosing 100 lbs and keeping it off. Good advice, too.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
