Finally! I can go back to the gym! Went both yesterday afternoon and this morning. I'm sorry I stepped on the scale. I put on a lot of weight while I was laid up. Gotta pull up my socks (if they still fit), stop wallowing in self-pity and start looking after myself again. (The little, soon-to-be-fit-again, engine that could!)

Have to crack down a bit. Had a serious "munchies" day yesterday. Found myself caught up several times in irresistible urge to keep snacking. Had, of all things, "peach" Cheerios. Ate a wee cup of them with about 1/2 cup of milk then, instead of putting them up, sat there eating at least a full serving of the cereal right from the box before my inner voice SCREAMED for me to stop.

Today, kept my calories to 750, a lot of it fruit/vegis. Did have some peanut butter as I had made shredded carrots, raisins and PB, stuffed in a quarter of a bell pepper. Different but tasty. Will see how the next few days go, if control is going to be an issue, may return to posting my intake daily again. Hopefully, it won't be an ongoing problem but it started with Tuesday when I traveled and visited an old co-worker and we went out to eat pizza. Seemed to have set a mood or something. The struggle continues.

Have you seen the benefits of fasting? If so, what specifically have you seen? 750 is well within the 30-60% for a reduced calorie diet, which has many benefits without fasting.

@EdEarl I've primarily done intermittent fasting, eating for a set number of hours out of 24 then fasting the rest. I've been doing the 8-16 split, not starting to eat until noon, not hard as I'm an extreme night-owl so I'm only up for an hour or so before noon most of the time. I then stop by 8 PM and don't eat again until the next noon. I've been doing it for a few weeks now and it is going pretty well. All but a few days I have kept eating within the 8 hours.

I'm not sure about the benefits of it other than it helps keep me from eating more than I intend to. Staying up to 2-3 AM means there was LOTS of time after 8 PM to slip up and get a "little snack". That does bring to mind a benefit, not eating for several hours before bed time means I have less reflux. I have a hiatl hernia and overeating or eating late lines me up for a lot of belching, heartburn, etc. which can also trigger some arrhythmia.

At one time I did "fruit fasting" for a time. It was recommended on a self-hypnosis weight loss tape. It was done only 2 consecutive days a week, all fresh fruit was allowed, although I think a couple, like bananas were supposed to be limited. That worked well as a diet aid, the rest of the days were to be controlled calorie intake. Could also be a good tool for maintenance.

I do throw in a very limited day every now and then, often in response to some bad diet days, kind of like this time. Tuesday, travel, pizza eating, followed by Wednesday's munchies, including a good salt load, caused a 2.4 pound bump. Today was back down to where I had been before the trip. Once in a while I have to do a little "shock therapy", severe limits for a day works sometimes. Also helps put me back on track sometimes.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
