Nice be here group!!!! Thanks for having me.
The Spices and the Sweets, plus those delicious Meats were enough lure daring explorers around the globe up the edge of existence time and again throughout history and before.
Alas, I miss it all devoting my life to being stuck in a public bathroom stall or indulging in some dinning hall or squirreling away at home where I can kind of have it all. I did not choose life or growth. I chose to knock myself down and out And numb with the food... especially the sweets and sausage and deep fried you-name-its.
I am approaching 30 years of obesity. I have been around just long enough see a few fad diets and workouts come and go then ressurect under different names with different unobtainable celebrity sponsors on the cover.
Thanks for letting me speak candidly about my weight problem. May whatever works for you, work for you in your struggle against obesity. Provided the cure doesn't kill you faster. But that too is up to you.
Me, I figure if I can teach myself to quit cigarettes by disliking them, then I can teach myself to like whole food better than crap. So, I remain deeply optimistic like a good cynic.
It's easier to change a habit, such as cigarettes, rather than quitting. Try chewing gum instead of smoking. Or, chew a cigar instead of smoking. Food is the same. Don't expect to stop a food, change it for another. Learn to cook, you cannot buy good food in the US, except for a few restaurants that serve vegetarian or vegan food. Most factory food is loaded with crap that kills you, including sugar, fat, and unpronounceable chemicals. We know they put toxic chemicals in the water; what makes you think they don't do the same in food. Even fresh fruits and vegetables can be loaded with pesticides and herbicides that are bad for us. To be sure of safe food, you must grow your own garden, but cooking fresh foods is almost as good.
Welcome and good luck with your weight loss.
Good luck with your struggle. I am 74 and have been struggling with my weight all my life. I more or less accept the way I am now - I don't see any prospect of change until my life changes. My doctor and other people tell me I am taking years off my life by being so overweight but my life is such that I do not particularly care. I was heartened to see that the great soprano Montserrat Caballe who was obese all her life, died yesterday at the age of 85.
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
