31 May 2019 - Diet Diary - After midnight so actually June now. Not 1am yet but I am too tired to stay up longer. Slightly lower day, ending around 1060. Evening got the best of me so not as low as I planned to keep the day. Still, I do seem to have the binge thing under control. That does it for me for today, need rest.

I don't know how you do it...I might have gotten close to 2000 calories yesterday. And you've stayed up late? Wow!! Glad your "binge" thing is under control...

I lost mine last night...

I cheated...but gained 0.6 pounds...Had to have a Martini and some fresh Tuna as offered by the local "Inn" here at Ocean Village"....my only consolation was that it was almost pure protein...no bread, no carbs.

I'll get back on the wagon today!

Late is how I operate. I chronically stay up to 1-2 AM, in fact only because I instituted a "mandatory bedtime" have I now been getting to bed by 2 nightly. This is why my day up until 3-4 PM can have a very low calorie intake yet the day ends up 4 times that high by the end. I have not been doing great at getting back on the intermittent fasting. That had the advantage of stopping the eating by 8-8:30 PM, the end of my 8 hour eating "window". It may be needed if I am actually going to hit my final goal as the after 8 eating is where I can easily pick up 200-300 or more calories.
The good thing about a "cheat day" is recovery from it is not real hard, as long as you don't let it turn into a "cheat week" then a cheat month..... Mantra: Tomorrow will be better! .

Well done. I hope this means you are back on track. You have worked so hard on this for such a long time that you really deserve to get to your goal and I am sure you will.

I'm hopeful. I think it just was a bad week, the weather was horrible, the flooding and the cat thing were distressing and I think I just got grabbed by that urge to soothe myself by feeding myself. I would benefit from finding other avenues to soothe myself but it is hard to just develop that kind of thing. The food/comfort thing starts so early in life, not easy to create that kind of emotional response to something like reading a book, digging in the dirt, crafting something, although those are all things I really enjoy.

@DotLewis That is so true. I have spent some time trying to think of alternative rewards and comfort but have so far failed. I think contacting someone else is helpful but as an introvert, that comes hard.

@CeliaVL You are right there. I've never had an extensive social network and since retiring I have less contacts with new people so don't find a lot of options to make new friends. Introvert for sure, don't do church, don't drink or enjoy social gatherings like clubs/dances/parties so that keeps my options limited. In the region of the midwest where I live, it is an additional challenge to find "friends" who share my thinking, non-religious, liberal, "open-minded" so even if I find a gathering place I'm OK going to, connecting with someone remains difficult.

To make it worse, half my "friend" group in town is moving away in a couple weeks, my neighbor across the street will be pretty much the only person I visit. Have on friend 75 miles away so do go visit her every couple months, may have to make that more frequent. Long term friend lives 300 miles away so we only see each other a couple times a year. While I am comfortable with spending a major portion of my days with only myself and the pets, it is important for introverts to have some in person contacts with other people. Doesn't make it easy to do.

@DotLewis Although I agree that we need at least a few personal friends we have regular contact with, I think it can be helpful just being with other people sometimes,as long as they are not too oppressive. I enjoy going to the library and being with other quiet, reading people, even if I don't speak to anyone.
