13 June 2019 -Diet Diary - Coping isn't going as well as I would like, yesterday I visited my friends, the ones who are leaving. One's sister was there, known her many years as well but won't see her again as she won't have cause to visit Norton and lives most of the way across the state. Then helping pack last of their stuff for the move and it was getting overwhelming. Last night my BP spiked way up, which it hadn't been doing since I started as second med. It stayed up overnight, couldn't sleep until near morning then had to get up as I wanted to get into the clinic if it was still elevated. Dr. asked about stress/anxiety but didn't really think friends moving away would cause this. Not sure about that but I've been "sucking it up" since they told me of the move so on the way back from the clinic, finally let control go. May have been therapeutic, although I was beat the rest of the day and did very little (aside from a nap) my BP has been down since mid afternoon. Hopefully, I will feel better tomorrow and get through Saturday, their departure day.

Since I mostly laid around today after returning home, I managed to not eat a lot, finished the day just under 1000 calories. Passed my "goal day" on June 11 without hitting the goal but will continue to work on it. That day was my 2 year anniversary of starting this diet program. An unprecedented amount of time for me to remain committed to a diet, EVER. Will see what the next year brings, I guess.

I don't know why you think you are not copi g. It sounds to me as if you have been coping amazingly well. Such a sad and difficult period as you are going through would have caused most of us to put on pounds, whereas you are managing to hold your weight steady, even if you are not reaching you final goal as soon as you would wish. You come across as an immensely strong character. Give yourself time to grieve the loss of your old friends. Will you stay in touch by WhatsApp or Facebook? That is my main way of keeping in touch with the friends I have been separated from. They say that as we get older it is hard to make new friends, but I haven't found that. Once you feel better, give yourself a chance to make new friends.

Thank! It's nice to know that someone has faith in my ability to deal with , because I'm not feeling a lot of it right now. I know it will pass, I'll adjust and go on with life pretty much as usual but when faced with loss, I tend to panic. We will be able to keep in touch on FB and email but not the same as being able to drop by their house and visit when I feel like it.

Being an introvert, retired and not a frequent visitor to public venues, making new friends seems like a daunting task. I've never thought a lot about making friends and I've never had a lot of close friends so it is a bit like the thought of dating again after 25 years, No idea how to even start.
No "social butterfly" here. 😕

@DotLewis As a fellow introvert I know what you mean I have been lucky in that each time I have moved house I have managed to make a friend and when I manage to move back to the UK permanently I still have old friends there. The real difficulty for me is not just not liking social occasions and 'mixing' - there are really not many people I have much in common with and want to know any better! You have mentioned your library a few times - are there any activities there that might lead to new acquaintances if not friends?

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
