14 August 2019 - Diet Diary - ALRIGHT! Fell off the plateau today! Just as suddenly as it appeared, that unexplained, almost 2 pound bounce disappeared. I am now back at my low point of 136.6. I have to suspect it is "hormonal" when they come with no logical (like eating more) explanation and they persist until they are over then the drop can also be as equally large and sudden. Whatever, I'm pleased with being back down so now to see if I can keep it around this point for a while at least. If that works, I think I will proclaim official "maintenance" mode switch, although that will not signal a significant change in my current behavior, just a little less stringent monitoring.
Today went smoothly, felt better and ate within my food allowance although I did enjoy a "treat". It was 50ยข corndog day at Sonic so I got the neighbor and I a corn dog and we split a small serving of Tots. CAN'T go to Sonic and not get Tots! Despite this, kept the count for today at 1120 although I did settle for one corndog while I could have eaten two. Nah! Didn't feel that bad about it, getting the Tots made up for it. I like tater tots but can't cook them worth a damn. They are never truly crispy when I do them but Sonic can do justice to tots.
Think it is time to head for bed. I get sidetracked SO easy (have an actually ADD diagnosis) that it often takes me an hour to go from "I'm going to bed" to actually getting there and I don't shower at night. Could get sidetracked tonight by checking the tub, which is almost completely cleaned now but checking for any other lime spots.
I'm sure the bounces are going to happen if you weigh yourself every day. I am going to stick to once a week, at least to start with. Although I am not seriously counting calories for another couple of weeks, when I shall be back on home territory, I am already cutting down! I shall be joining you in a daily report once I get started seriously again.
Oh yeah, from one day to the next there is usually a little up and down motion but when it is over a pound in one day, for no real reason I can see, it often turns into one of these multi-day plateaus. It is likely "healthier" (at least for your head) to go with weekly instead of daily weigh ins but after this long, it is a hard habit to break and even though I would continue to control my eating (I would hope) there is a voice in me that says, "what if you check in after a week and gained 6 pounds then have to lose that over again.
On maintenance, I try to limit gains to 2 pounds. When I hit that point, I know it is time to take a couple days of tighter restrictions on my eating. Figure even if it is a little OCD, it is better than my past track record of losing then just ignoring the scales after and before long there is much put back on.
Good luck on the cutting down, you may be surprised when you get back home. Keep us posted. Look forward to your regular reports.
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
