23 Sept. 2019 - Diet Diary - Pears! Emptied the dehydrator this morning and refilled it this afternoon. Will definitely have about as many dried pears as I will ever use. A full dryer makes about a half gallon jar full so I'm sealing them in canning jars for extended storage. Have some in quart jars for more immediate use. Will be nice to have them all dealt with in some fashion as it takes quite a bit of time to cut and arrange 8 trays of thin pear slices.

Intake today was under allowance but barely. Will not drop any more weight at this level and although I am on maintenance, I find myself thinking I wouldn't mind being on the lower end of my chosen "range". Guess, if I want it bad enough, I will tighten up intake and it will happen, even if it is slowly.

Now I will look for dried pears when shopping...and fresh pears are already on my list!

I've had commercially produced dried pears which were half pears and very tasty but based on that experience, my first effort at drying pears were a failure. I eventually figured out that slicing the pears around 1/4" thick and drying 8-10 hours gives me a good flavored, thin, somewhat leathery product. Because of the concentration of the sugars by drying, it is easy to get a lot of calories eating them. I did finally figure out calories for them though and it is 75 in an ounce. That sounds like a lot but a half ounce is a pretty nice handful.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.
