I go through periods of a few days eating too much, because I don't eat the rainbow of vegies. Some I like, some I endure.

Are you going through a difficult time? Most of us are emotional eaters - we don't eat because we are hungry. Are there particular triggers for you?

Most definitely... and a binge eater. Should be starting therapy next week

@JonnaBononna I love the idea of therapy. Let us know if it helps.

@JonnaBononna Binge eater? No problem... binge on healthy foods. You can STILL binge! That's what I do. Look at what you binge on... how many calories per ounce? Fried chicken wings = 59. Chocolate ice cream = 72. Peanut butter = 200. 80-proof Alcoholic beverages are 96 calories per shot. 7-oz Long Island Ice Tea = 780 calories. Stay away from alcohol and sugary drinks if you really want to lose weight! Look for better choices! When I binge I have a (big) bowl of broccoli with Mrs Dash's spices... 10 calories per ounce. Or a big mixed salad with "Skinny Girl" dressing... 5-9 calories per ounce! Need something more filling? Bake a Butternut Squash, add some cinnamon and eat as much as you want... 13 calories per ounce! See the difference? First thing to do is keep a journal of what you eat and drink, how much and total calories. In 3-days you'll see the problem... not entirely how much you eat but rather WHAT you eat! Eat smarter. As you shrink you'll naturally eat less. I've lost 1/3 of my weight in 3-years just by eating the RIGHT things and NONE of the wrong things. Yes... I binge... and still lose weight.

@mtnhome I would certainly go for the butternut squash, but sadly, when you need comfort food salad and greens are just not enough.

@CeliaVL You have to re-train your brain by just doing what you know is the right thing, again and again until your brain 'gets it'. I'm 100% serious. Salads and lo-cal veggies ARE my comfort foods now! MY brain is good with those because it now knows that the salads and lo-cal unprocessed food are the only pathway to my goal of a normal mid-range BMI. Sights and smells of high-fat, high-sugar, calorie-dense foods are more of a turn-OFF for me now. In a few months I'll be at my goal and can modify my eating patterns to include some higher-calories foods (but nothing stupid) I've avoided and thereby maintain the desired weight. Simple. Get OFF whatever diets have been failing you all your life and just eat healthy. It works but you've got to do your part, too by using a little willpower to get it started. The brain will do the rest.

Eat ONLY natural foods, just as they are when they leave the farm. Stay away from any "foods" created or altered in a factory or restaurant... including drinks. Read the ingredients... if it has a list of ingredients at all, then it's probably to be avoided. Don't add any sugars, fats, salt, or artificial anything (that's what the factory food processors and restaurants do). Avoid fatty meats. Boom... that's all you need to know. Your body will return to its natural shape and size.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
