So I'm now in India for a few weeks. I have with me my jump ropes, both my SKLZ ropes and my Pro-Energy speed ropes. My fitness plan, go out for a walk/light jog up to a park in the morning, and tabata the hell out of myself. What are your winter holiday plans?

So, this week I wasn't able to go jump roping or do squats. I was however able to go for walks, so that's something...

I want to do a 50km bike ride. Anyone interested?

So I'm today off from my routine (I returned from Thane in the evening yesterday and have just put my clothes for washing today so...)...Tomorrow I'll get back into it...

so with the exception of Sunday, since last week Wednesday, I've been doing jump ropes and squats. I feel good after every 100 squat session. I see the inner thigh (the mid part) getting thinner and more tapered when I flex my thigh in the shower.

My plan today is to do 100 squats (only with a backpack), followed by 100 jump ropes. I'll break it into parts, starting with 10 squats, then 20, 30, and finally 40. The Jump ropes will be done after each set.

Stay keto until 17 January when I get my other, left, knee replaced.

you're going keto...why?

@VineetHonkan Fat loss/ab quest.

@kmdskit3 the problem with keto is that it is a very specific diet...as in high protein, which means from my studies in college that it will wreck your kidneys and liver.

@VineetHonkan Not at all. I have never seen or heard of any study where a high protein diet causes any problems for anyone as long as their kidneys aren't already compromised. In a purely experiential/anecdotal example, if high protein diets were so hard on the kidneys how come all the strength athletes who've been consuming these high protein diets aren't blowing up their kidneys by the millions?

regarding you TKR, how will you exercise on it once it's installed? I am of course speaking from the experience of being an Indian, and having visited hospitals rehab clinics in the past here (India) and usually seeing that mostly people who have joint replacements are not the kind who usually go out for physical activities after. Also of interest, the physio here starts about 2-3 days after but since these are physiotherapists it's always for basic daily living activities, ie climbing stairs, standing, sitting down in the bed. They focus on all the joint movements, from fingers, to wrist, to elbow etc. I know from my knee displacement in Canada that athletic therapy is different in that the patient has to be on bed rest for 6 weeks before rehab begins.

It will be good weather here in Nevada so I will get a couple of hikes done in addition to my usual 3 days a week at the gym... holidays won't get in the way of my exercise! I'll need more work outs because I'll be eating like a pig ?

Best thing, get yourself a pair of weighted jump ropes as well as a pair of quality speed ropes. Mind you though, the speed ropes are cable and those covered with that black rubber will get chewed out if used outside. Here in India I don't have access to a good gym, so I have to make do with $60 worth of equipment (the two jump ropes) plus my knowledge of exercises.

@VineetHonkan excellent plan! I have a jump rope, ankle weights & a kettle bell at home for the times I can't make it to the gym. I do need to invest in a better jump rope though, mine is cheap & falling apart ?

@tinebean For me I just use two brands, either SKLZ or Energetics Pro. The first one is weighted, and the second one is a speed rope (which I learned the hard way you DO NOT want to use outdoors as it will eat throuth the pubber protecting the cable)...
