Southwest Florida -
I apologize if off topic but all of my FB friends are from Brooklyn so -- here goes.
My co-worker's wife has been critically ill with diabetes for over 14 years. She frequently has seizures and my co-worker hates having to leave her alone but he has to work. He only makes 10 something an hour, 4 days a week. She does have whatever the state health insurance is and she gets about 500 a month from disability. He has been trying to get some kind of visiting nurse service or the ability to get supplemental income so he could stay home with her. There used to be a program for that in NY where you could get benefits to be a caregiver to your family member but I don't see such a program here. I called United Way and they can't help him. I've looked into a number of social services and am coming up empty. Does anyone know of any resources I can look into?
