Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.It's called Social Contract Theory and was discussed extensively by Rousseau, Locke, and Hume. Essentially, war is societal self-defense and taxation is paying your societal dues...at least in theory.
I don't think anyone is "required" to provide companionship to others. You could lead the life of a hermit if you really wanted to.
First of all, you would have to stop 100% of all people from technological advancement. If you only stopped 99%, the remaining 1% would rule over the other 99%. Secondly, we are way too late to stop technological advancement that could possibly lead to a doomsday scenario. In fact, in may only be technological advancement that may save us, for example, from climate change doomsday.
