They are all beautiful, but I especially love the Witch Hazel!
Lovely! Winter aconite and snowdrops are the first forbs to bloom in my yard (the beginning of March or when the snow melts, whichever comes second), and they always represent the beginning of spring for me, even though my honey bees often manage to find pollen elsewhere first. I have never seen winter aconite anywhere else. It's an exotic here, but not invasive, and I am grateful to a previous resident for getting it established. Once it blooms, the flowers open and close daily, and I left my camera on a tripod one day to document the opening. They grow much more densely in that churchyard!
Dead bodies make good fertilizer?
@FrayedBear That must be it! So if I want to encourage my own winter aconite patch to grow more densely...hmm...
@Behind-the-dog It's cheaper to go to the stables and get a few tons of horse droppings!
