Queens at Heart (1967) Okay, fuck it, maybe it's not LGBTQ History month in the US, but I'm still posting this. In 1967, this film short "Queens at Heart" was made for grindhouse theaters. It features a sleazy host interviewing New York trans women two years prior to Stonewall. Note: it was ILLEGAL to be cross-dressed in NYC at the time this film was made. This was lost for many years until a film archivist found an unmarked copy in a film tin. It has since been restored by LA Outfest Legacy Project. It's real history, enjoy.

A 'psychological aberration'. When I was a teenager in a mental hospital, a man was admitted who was a cross-dresser. He was the only one who had a divider around his bed in the dormitory. That was the mid-70s. He was treated as an oddity among oddities. He wasn't at all friendly and looked very tough, built as solid as a farmer and always angry. Looking back on it, it was a hopeless situation. I'm sure he returned to the Catholic world around him and we returned to our ignorance.
