@onlyif Jokes like recipes cannot be copyrighted. So no, they would not have to be original, but they would be worthless except to another collector.

@onlyif The interesting part is that the underlying photograph might be copyrighted, but normally is not. But the question as to whether the picture loses its copyright protection once someone has incorporated it into a joke has never been answered in the courts. It would take someone with a very valuable photo to make that case worth pursuing.
