Silence of the Goats...it puts the tin can in the basket...

I mostly listen to thrash and black metal. Rarely listen to death metal. I keep on telling people it's not death metal...

@Delaroux Wiki calls it Groove Metal, or Melodic Death Metal. That is literally the only song I like by them. lol

I saw them once (but went to see Skeletonwitch). I was hanging out with them when DevilDriver was on stage. I only wanted to see that song by them.

@Delaroux That's Black Metal!

@TheGreatShadow & I'm an old-fuck & sometimes sound just like my parents when it comes to a lot of Metal or some of the older Gangsta Rap. I grew up in the '60's & '70's & we tend to bond with the music of our early years, no matter how much we try to stay current. I really don't want to be old!!!

@phxbillcee Meh, it's not an "old people" thing. The music I listen to is what most people my age don't listen to. I feel old when I don't like anything from top of the pops. It's all garbage. But then again I have been like that since my teens. It's not me, the music sucks.

Look at bands like The Beatles. They are timeless (saw Ringo once). Nowadays, you get some one hit wonder that they play 80 times a day on the radio station. I also like classical. Whodathunk? I don't want to hear some computerized crap where they yell "yeahhhh", and that gets them a grammy. Lots of rappers do that because they use that phrase once on a guest appearance of a song. Also think the n word rhymes with the n word. Annoying at best. Some music I listen to might sound like nonsensical rambling, but most has complex techniques, and the lyrics are written like poems. Listen to the meaning before you hear the screaming.

@Delaroux I'll give you the Melodic Black Metal part. 🙂

There are loads of sub generes of Black Metal.

@TheGreatShadow What you stated was no different when I was growing up, the one hit wonders, the playing even decent songs into the ground, the glorification of the banal. Been going on for ages.

@phxbillcee Yeah I hate when they keep on playing decent songs over and over. I'm not a fan of the song Freebird, but they still play the hell out of it! I love Iron Maiden, but you will probably only hear one of three songs on the radio and rarely. Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter (which sucks), Run To The Hills (not a lot better), and Number of the Beast (like that one). They have so many GREAT songs, but you don't hear them on the radio. Maybe Sirious or something...

@TheGreatShadow I often felt one of the lamest songs on an album(showing my age there) ended up as the radio pick. I thought Zep's "Immigrant Song" was the weakest on Zep III (my fav Zep disc, tho I'm probably almost alone in that). Tho, I have to admit, seeing/hearing it used in Thor:Ragnarok changed my mind a bit! That movie was a damn hoot!

@phxbillcee You are very correct on that! Let's face it, the PR manager says "okay this will sell". They put that on the radio. Some people might buy the album. Especially when you listen to the type of music I do. They want it to be a lot more mellow than what the rest of the album is. Not only for sales, but they don't want to offend anyone. Fact of the matter.

Get the curry powder ...

At least all you're doing is sacrificing goats, loverboy.
