Japan didn't surrender just because of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They surrendered because the Soviets were going to be fully engaging with Japan.
Yeah, most accounts state that the A-Bomb drops were totally unnecessary, that the only sticking point in a Japanese surrender was whether it was to be "unconditional" or not.
